In doubt I think my thoughts aloud,
Questions, answers: none but mine.
A thousand ears pick up my sound,
But only one can move to brine.
The words succinct, 'maybe, maybe not';
I am no fool, I can't pretend.
Thoughts to mouth, and all the lot
'Hide your fires' so this can end.
Before I pass, they must comprehend
That I fear not 'the heat of the sun'
Through tempests and rain I do not bend
What use? Can they my life refund?
I've said my piece, we all listened.
But only me whose eyes did glisten.
